Hi. We are having a fantastic time chasing down some of your obscure recommendations as we travel around the North Island. There is a slight change to the Okupata Cave selection which we discovered today (13/19/24). The DOC sign at the parking area is now gone and there is no indication of the short pathway that brings you to the ladder (and the cave entrances). Your best way to get there is now to measure exactly the 4.5 km from the final sign as you drive in on the gravel road. Also, maybe worth mentioning is the campground another 1.5 km past the cave so that people know when they have missed the spot.

hello – went in there to take some photographs – but obviously did not go far enough to see the dripstone formations in your photo – how far in are they?

Bevan….they are sort of at the “far” entrance to the cave. Do you have my book with its directions?? cheers, scott
