    […] nz frenzy recommendation. the appeal of this place is that you can dig a hole into the sand and it will fill with hot water. but the hot water areas were a lot more sporadic than we were led to believe (by the guidebooks and by fellow tourists). there were a handful of areas with people crowding around them — we had a little  fun doing some teamwork with fellow beachgoers to dig holes and build barriers to keep the waves out. but with the tide creeping up, we didn’t get a chance to relax and sit in a hole of warm water like we’d imagined.
