Russell, once referred to as the “hellhole of the South Pacific”, is now a really nice, quaint town…not given over to 100% tourism like nearby Paihia.

Long Beach is just a short drive over tthe hill from downtown Russell.

Waitata Cove freedoms.  She was from Sweden and she wondered why Kiwis seem so uptight on their beaches and was glad to find a beach where she could go topless.
